What is facial acupuncture and why should I try it?

I’m back and eager to chat about one of my favourite treatments: facial rejuvenation acupuncture! This is a natural treatment that works with our bodies own repair mechanisms to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scarring. It can also help to lift and tone sunken jowls and shape the jawline, brighten the complexion, and improve jaw pain, headaches, acne, skin dehydration and overall facial tension.

Performed by a trained and experienced professional, small acupuncture needles are carefully inserted into the skin to help increase circulation, relive points of tension, boost local collagen production, lift and tone the face and create an overall healthy glow. Even smaller needles are sometimes inserted at a very shallow depth to reduce the look of fine lines by recruiting local repair mechanisms—this style is called intra-dermal needling. The treatment is typically one hour in length, beginning with a brief consult to identify your areas of concern followed by 30 minutes of acupuncture and ending with a facial and scalp massage.

Facial acupuncture can be used as a series of consecutive treatments as a natural alternative to cosmetic procedures and topical pharmaceuticals, or as a method to address chronic jaw pain and headaches. It can also be used as a one-off treatment for those looking to treat themselves to a moment of self-care, or to get a little extra glow for a special occasion.
