A person receiving acupuncture treatment in their shoulder
  • I’m trained in traditional Chinese acupuncture, a technique that has been used for centuries to address a very wide variety of conditions and concerns. The inherent healing properties of acupuncture stem from its ability to stimulate points in the body where Qi (we may consider this to refer to energy) is stored. Acupuncture can help to liberate stuck Qi and allow it to flow more freely throughout different body systems, restoring balance to body and mind and promoting vitality.

  • I love to incorporate acupuncture into my patients’ protocols, especially because of its ability to invoke the parasympathetic nervous system (the rest & digest part of the nervous system) and promote relaxation.

Common concerns that I address with acupuncture in my practice are: hormone imbalances, disturbed digestion, headaches & jaw pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia, and grief.

I also use it to support my patients who are trying to conceive, and in late stage pregnancy to help promote labour.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

Person receiving acupuncture treatment on their face
  • A facial acupuncture treatment involves an initial assessment of your skin, scalp, neck and jaw. From there we decide together what the goals of the treatment are. I will insert small needles into different points on the face and scalp where indicated, as well as a couple body points to help relax you. The needles are typically retained for 20-30 minutes before being removed, followed by a facial massage.

  • This treatment is an effective and natural way to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, dark circles, It can also help to lift and tone sunken jowls, shaping the jaw line, address acne concerns, skin dehydration and overall facial tension.

Facial acupuncture can be used as a series of treatments as a natural alternative to cosmetic procedures or topical pharmaceuticals, or as a method to address chronic jaw pain and headaches. It can also be used as a one-off treatment for those looking to have a little extra glow for a special occasion!

  • After watching someone close to me struggle to find the support they needed, I pursued extra training and became certified in pelvic floor therapy through Pelvic Health Solutions.

I has now incorporated this increasingly in-demand therapy into my naturopathic practice and continues to engage in education and research surrounding the topic of pelvic health.

  • Pelvic floor therapy involves the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction in all persons by utilizing an internal digital exam and targeted exercises. Pelvic floor dysfunction can present as chronic pelvic pain–including pain experienced during intercourse or while urinating, testicular pain, or deep hip pain–weakness, incontinence, or prolapse. Pelvic floor therapy may also be indicated at various points throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Fertility and Pregnancy Support Acupuncture

  • Acupuncture is one of my favourite ways to support my patients who are trying to conceive.

Acupuncture can help to balance hormones, reduce the effects of daily stress, reduce inflammation, improve blood flow and optimize the implantation window.

It is also a complementary treatment indicated for women who are exploring assisted reproductive techniques (ART) like IUI and IVF.

For patients looking to incorporate acupuncture into their treatment plan, an individualized protocol will be developed based on their goals and their menstrual cycle.
